July Newsletter

The Official Berkshire Bike and Board Newsletter.

Welcome to the first edition of our Berkshire Bike and Board newsletter where we will bring the best parts of shop life to all of our customers. We want to share the fun that defines the community here at Bike and Board. We will share group rides, feature new and interesting products and alot of ride recaps! Our goal is to make this a weekly part of what we do here at Berkshire Bike and Board.

Shop Report - Vaccination and Vacation are two words that in the last few months have become synonymous. Vaccination shots lead to tequila shots and reclaiming summer. Here are Bike and Board, we are thrilled to be deep in the summer with group rides going out almost daily. There are so many reasons to ride your bike.

As bike manufacturers catch up with the demand seen by our industry last year, new bikes are landing everyday here at Bike and Board. A wide selection of full suspension Mountain bikes arrived and hardtails are on the way. On top of that, in the last year the Aethos distinguished itself as the road bike to have for the future. The iconic nature of a round tubing design cannot be understated. One might say things have come full circle. (Excuse the bad pun)

E-Bikes still remain an awesome part of what we do. Few things beat an after work Como ride through the Berkshires.

Ride Recap - Pittsfield State Forest Considering the amount of rain recently one might confuse Western Mass with the Pacific NorthWest. As we transition to a semi aquatic lifestyle, our riding has had to adapt as well. No one person embodies this idea better than Alexander Bileca. Alexander is a shop certified shredder.  You will often find him after work chasing Steffen off anything in Berkshire county.

Last Thursday, they both decided to take a ride at Parker Brook Trail.  As they plowed over the main bridge, Alexander entered with boundless confidence (and exited with the sting of humility). I watched from behind as his front wheel slid out and he lost traction on the bridge as his shoulder hit the deck and the youthful joy slowly left his eyes.

Without a moment of hesitation gravity took him further. He dove into the murky water that even beavers avoid.  His boyish innocence left him. With one fell swoop Alexander became Alex. The murky water of PSF beaver pond embraced him. College tours and driver license tests would no longer be a part of Alex’s life, he had become one with the mud.

He crawled out from the mud Alex looked fully prepared to take on the Predator. Mud oozed from every pore. But his ever-persistent positive attitude took the lead and he turned back to face us with a grin stretching from ear to ear. Word has it his mother cleaned him with a hazmat suit on when he got home.

Featured Products for all riders - The Cobber light 330 degrees visibility means cars can see you at an intersection from the side. It is a great product that lots of our staff use while commuting.

Picture this, Your grandmother is riding her Como over to your house. In her Specialized pizza rack is a hot fresh peach cobbler just wanting to be devoured ala mode. As she crosses an intersection she has 100 times before, a car jumps at her from the side. But luckily they stomp on the brake! The cobbler was saved by the Cobber! With increased visibility you can feel safe riding a bike at any time of the day.
